3 Day Thriving with the Menopause Retreat - Aug
This three day retreat will help you explore menopause a little better, and the effect it has on your body and mind. Learn what's "normal", share experiences, and explore your changing emotions through creative activities, mindfulness and nature.

About the Event
The menopause, and the effect is has on women and on society in general is slowly starting to be talked about. Yet, despite the publicity, the books and the media, understanding our own menopause effects can seem like a minefield. Am I normal? Is something wrong with me? How can I get back to my old life?
The menopause is more than just night sweats and hot flushes. It has physical effects, but also mental and emotional effects, such as anxiety and panic attacks. Do you know that your sense of smell and taste can change? That you can actually get cold flushes as well as hot flushes?
Join me for a 3 day retreat exploring the meonpause and the effect it has on our bodies and minds. Share your experiences, learn about what is physically happening in our bodies, and explore your own feelings and emotions.
We spend time making our own journals to use for our creative journalling, we spend time in mindful contemplation and also go for walks in the outdoors.
The retreat will be small, friendly and personal in nature - laid back, welcoming and non-judgemental. It's a safe space to explore. The retreat is held at Hill Top Haven, a rural old farmer and miner's cottage in the middle of the rugged and beautiful North Pennines (AONB). Over the course of the 3 days, (Friday afternoon to Monday morning) we include a mixture of creative work (starting by making our own journals), outdoor nature reflection and mindfulness. We explore what grief is and what is 'typical'. We explore how we are feeling, and what we might need to move forward in our grief journeys. We also include some fun and laughter such as wine and cheese tasting.
I am a qualified coach and mindfulness teacher, with both training in and personal experience of the menopause (I crashed into menopause after an operation at age 36). I create a safe and supportive environment for you.
I have your best interests at heart, and will be seeking to have a conversation with each attendee, on booking.
To be flexible, the 'ticket' price includes everything except accommodation.

The maximum number of people on the retreat is 6, so if you'd like to book your own accommodation, and join us, that's no problem.
An important part of the retreat is the time we spend together, which is why everything is included, except 1 dinner where you can sample some of the local eateries.
If you do book your own accommodation, I would encourage you to have your meals with us.

Accommodation takes the following forms:
1 double room in the main house at £75/night (can be a twin room if you have someone to share with)
1 double bed in the annex at £65/night (shared with single bedroom - bathroom, kitchen and living area)
1 single bed in the annex at £55/night (shared with the double bedroom - bathroom, kitchen and living area)

Everything for your stay is included except accommodation. Included are: meals, all materials, all of my time, and any extras such as the wine and chocolate tasting.
